A reliable & strong workhorse in the fishing scene. 320GTI can overcame anything hurled in his way. Coupled with 50lbs braided it can bring to boat anything that took ur bait.

This model is made in the US but newer model you find in tackle shop are made in the Great Wall County.
I have slightly older model that still working very well considering the minimum maintenance I accorded to it. What I did is to lightly wash off the sea water & spray lightly with WD40 at external the moving parts.

Since Penn reels are now made outside US, those made in the US are now classic Penn.

What do we want?

Islam has generally failed to evolve & mobilise the ummah from poverty, illiteracy and oppression.
Ummah has been unable to move forward & progress while keeping Islam close to their heart.

Islam has now been reduced to be a symbol which conveniently put aside when more serious matters dictate, like earning a living, getting rich, running a country & what not.

It's no longer a way of life.
It gets chucked away when it gets in our way i.e it makes us feel guilty.
We justify our action by rationalising that our deed is neccessary.

Islam has been sacrificed on the alter of convenience.

How did we become like this?

It's a long story.

The decline of Islam gets in motion when people like Muawiyah Bin Abu Suffian, a governor in Syam(nowday Iraq) during Saidina Ali caliphate, who think by dressing well will impress foreign dignitaries & raise the status of Islam. Was he wrong?
(Amirrul think Muawiyah is more progressive compared to Ali. He was thinking of material progress? I guess so. Unlike spiritual progress? His rationale? Islam spread far & wide during Muawiyah, he said. The Caliphate was turned into monarchy during Muawiyah so that his ancestors can take over)
It gets in motion when we turn the other cheek or we take when people are not watching?

How come Islam was so successful during Rasullalah days?

Billal was beaten blue & black & he kept uttering "Allah the great" until Uthman bought & free him.
Billal believed.
He believed in Allah swt, Quran & Rasullalah saw.
He wasn't a rich man. He was a slave.
Yet all are vivid in his heart & mind.

Uthman was a rich man & he'd given away most of his riches to finance Islam cause.

These sahabats have given their all & Islam flourish.

Do they become rich when Islam flourish?

Nope.

It's not their intention to get rich.
So what do they want?

Coming back to us, the big question is "what do we want?"

Most answer "successful".

What do they mean by "successful?"
Big pay check, big houses, big cars that attract bevy of girls, for the start. And later the game evolved.

Big & bigger than the other.

More power & more money.
Power to bent rules & money to buy idolation & affection.
Despite what people say about power, like;
Power corrupts, absolute power corrupt absolutely
Power never cease to amaze.

What price we are willing to pay to get what we want?

Hard work. Creative. Innovative.
Some won't do it upfront but gave their all at the back.
Some will sell their mother.

Coming back to Islam & matter of success
Can these two exist together or they are mutually exclusive?

Adakah Islam menyusahkan? Is by becoming true Muslim you will not be able to enjoy things that you enjoy in the past?

Adakah Islam membuat ummah mundur & miskin?

As a responsible Muslim, we've got to confront these issues.
Come clean with our conscience.
We can't afford to follow the herd anymore.
We've got to stand up & be counted.

What we are today is pathetic. We are ritualistic & superficial.
We dressed like one, we go to masjid like one or we fast like one but when come to more serious matter, like money, power, justice, we let the "whisper" rules.
So many things about Islam, we take for granted.

What we do & say in public is not the same when we are in private.
Who are we really?
Hypocrite?

Nenasi Part 2 The Brute

Technically it was my tackle which floored this 30lbs brute. My new 50lbs braidedline, my rod, ever reliable Penn 320 and my terminal tackle.
Morally we all did.
I was lightly asleep when I heard commotion onboard. The tekong was telling my fishing buddies to cut all the lines which had entangled with my line.
The fish had taken the bait for sometime and being the ever smart Cobia he was, he made a few round under the boat. This way he managed to gather all the 'tajur' lines into a tight crazy mass of tangled fishing lines which you can neither retrieve or release.
Slowly he pulled the fish into striking distance before planting the gancu into the belly of the brute.
Earlier we had run out of livebaits when dracula sotong keep on stealing livebaits.
Had to resort to dead tamban instead.
When it was too much to take I just put the rod in the rod holder & have shuteye. The rest is history.

Nenasi Part 1

Nenasi is about 30km south of Pekan enroute to Rompin. We stay at a dedicated fisho chalet run by Abg Matt Maggi & wife.
Somebody called & I said yes, that's how we got here.
I'd never seen a more passionate & dedicated tekong than this guy. You'd to book hin for a 2 days package to find out.
We didn't set any big picture for this trip. Just go for a break.

Udang galah dari Sg Langat

This is not a macro shot of udang puteh found in brackish or coastal water off Pulau Ketam. Look at the bluish arm! This is the real udang galah.
Yes, we do came across a few in the Seberang Perak rest area. But I am talking about the live ones.

Never could imagine Sg Langat could offer this exotic species. Right here in the famously polluted river in Selangor and not some exotic destinations like far away Rompin or some imaginary river in Sabah.

Last weekend, try to break the maddeningly boring routine, check with Mazlan, long time ally, if he knows anywhere to go fishing. And the rest is history of my first udang galah.
The investment? Made in China combo rod & reel at rm19 each. Just like what you see here.

Welcome 2011.
Just a welcome not an embrace, mind you.
2011 gives new hope that things will gets better.
2011 provide a closure to 2010.
A closure to pains & heartache.

What does 2010 teaches me?
Never put all your eggs in one basket is one of them.
As a businessman, it means diversify.
If basket A didn't make it
You still have basket B to hang on to.
Put enough basket around you, you're comfortably floating in any weather!

Travel far & wide
So you can look & learn
Be humble & you'll learn better.

What did we do on New Year eve? We went to a funfair. Cheap fun? Fun carry no price tags. I want to find out whether I am still fit to have fun riding one of these stuff.

Berlapang dada dengan Allah swt

Baru dapat call dari KWSP that we'd lost the Ipoh tender though we are lowest.
Not much, just 110k. But it means so much to me.

How do I take this as a muslim & as a businessman?

This tender was floated in August this year & the only Kwsp tender that we think we have the advantage since we did similar job in Institut Kwsp Bangi job last year.
We already lost the 600k UIA job though we're shortlisted & another 600k inUPM.

We sincerely hoping for this job as we don't have that many jobs in hand.

Are we not doing enough?
Adakah kami kurang bersunggoh?
Apakah yg maksud bersunggoh itu?
No hold barred?

Are we doing it wrong?
We bought the document & submit.
We were informed by Kwsp that we're lowest.
We bidded the lowest by 15k. And yet we didn't get the job!
What happened?

Adakah ini bukan rezeki kami?
Obviously, it isn't.
But where is our rezeki?
Apakah lesson we are to learn from this case?

Engkau memberi kpd siapa yg engkau suka
Tidak kah engkau suka kpd kami, Ya Allah?
Kami mencuba sebaik yg kami boleh Ya Allah
Tunjuk kan kami jalan yg terbaik itu Ya Allah.

Kami sedar menjadi umat Islam bukan tiket jadi kaya.
Adakah umat Islam harus jadi miskin?
Atau lebih baik jadi miskin?

Miskin akan lebih membuat kita ingat kapada Allah swt,
Bukankah miskin bole membawa kpd kafir?
Tapi kaya pun bole membawa kpd takabur.
Mungkin kami belum layak?
Mungkin kami belum cukup ingat kepada Allah
dan Allah tahu harta yg lebih akan mendatangkan mudarat?
Melalaikan dan lupa akan Dia.
Akan mendatangkan rasa angkuh?

Mungkin kami tak tahu apa yg baik bagi kami,
Mungkin ini adalah lebih baik bagi kami?

Engkau Maha Adil, Ya Allah.
Engkau juga Maha Pengasih lagi Maha Penyayang.

Pesan kepada bakal pengantin.

Dalam kegembiraan menanti hari yang yang bersejarah, banyak persediaan yg perlu di fikir & buat.

Baju, kasut, jemputan, menu makanan.
Baju apa, warna apa?
Matching kasut?
Berapa ramai yg nak di jemput? Kawan berapa?
Menunya?
Honeymoon pula dimana?
Lepas tu nak tinggal dimana?
Apa yg perlu disediakan?
Perabot nya? Nak masak dirumah atau makan dikedai aje?

Dalam ribut ribuan keputusan yg harus di putuskan ini, adakah bakal ibu & ayah ini terfikir ttg baby yg akan dilahirkan?
Adakah mereka sedar yg mereka akan menyambut kedatangan seorg khalifah?

"Setiap org dari kamu adalah khalifah" itu pesan Allah swt
Apakah usaha kita utk dapat khalifah?

Semasa dalam peringkat janin dalam rahim ibu, baby telah dapat mendengar & respon terhadap
mood, tona suara & perlakuan ibunya.
Suara ibunya amat mengesan kpd perkembangan dirinya.

Anak org Yahudi yg terkenal kebijaksanaanya, di latih mathematic oleh ibunya semasa dalam kandungan, kan berkecenderung menjadi ahli mathematic (for full story pls provide email).
Begitu juga ibu Islam yg selalu mendendangkan ayat2 Al Quran kpd kandunganya. Mungkin dia akan di anugerahkan seorg hafiz. Yg bole baca Quran semasa 3 thn.

Sejak dalam kandungan, cabangan otak dah mula bercantum utk proses pembelajaran, hinggalah baby dilahirkan.
Semasa anak berlajar menjelajah persekitaranya, ibu bapa selalu ucapkan "jangan" itu dan ini agar baby tak jatuh, luka, terbakar, lemas dan apa apa lagi.
Perkatan "jangan"ini bila di ucapkan atau di jeritkan akan "mematikan" perkembangan sel otak.
Ini dpt di demonstrate dalam lab.

Permakanan juga amat penting kearah ini.
Buahan, kekacang, ikan dan susu adalah makanan ruji seorg ibu yg mengandung.
Ini menolong bantu membina kecerdasan baby.


Jadi, memang Allah janjikan khalifah.
Ayah & ibu harus berusaha agar permata hati akan tetap begitu bila dah dewasa.
Walaupun bukan hak kita utk menentukanya.
Tapi Allah juga amat adil.

What they forget to tell us.

Assm,
Most of the times when we attend a kulliyah or tazkirah or majlis ilmu, the speakers try to tell us that, the rewards for our good efforts (ibadah)while living our life, will be realized only after our death. Sembahyang untuk Allah, puasa utk Allah, ibadah kerana nak dapat Allah's pleasure.
Sebenarnya cerita tu kurang tepat.

Bukanlah kita lakukan ibadah hanya kerana nak dapat shorga Allah swt sahaja, tapi nak jaga kehidupan kita sekarang.
Kalu our present life kucar kacir macamana nak beribadat dgn baik?
Bila kita ikut apa Allah swt suruh, bukan saja kita please Dia tapi Allah swt bagi lebih lagi. Di sini pun dia dah bagi. Kadangkala kita x perasan.
Umpamanya;
Sembahyang.
Selain sembahyang itu wajib dan tiang agama, sembahyang adalah utk diri kita sendiri.
Sembahyang ingatkan kita siapa diri kita.
Bila kita gagal dapatkan apa yg kita hajatkan, di landa masalah yg di luar kekuasaan & kefahaman kita.
Bila kita di kurniakan dgn sesuatu yg tidak di jangka,
We know we're not the master of our destiny.
We need to look for our master & tell Him our deepest feeling
Only then we can be at peace, within & without
And behave accordingly
Sembahyang Jumaah.
Kita sembahyang jumaah supaya kita kenal siapa jumaah kita dan kuatkan jumaah kita.
What make Chinese businesses strong? One of the reason they have strong associations to protect their interests. Umpamanya Persatuan Penternak Ayam telah berjaya mendesak kerajaan membuka price control dan ikut market price.
Kita pun perlukan association yg kuat supaya kita dapat jadi kuat.
Org yg sembahyang bersaorgan umpama sesaorg yg dikelilingi oleh serigala?
Yahudi kata kalu org Islam boleh sembahyang Subuh macam sembahyang Jumaat, baru dia takut pd org Islam.
Kahwin.
Kita kahwin kerana untuk kawal nafsu kita dan menjamin kebajikan diri & keturunan.
Mcm2 penyakit org yg mengamalkan free sex without obligation. Free diseases, isolation, family structure breakdown. Tapi free sex nampak exciting? So is smoking & many other things we're not suppose to do.
Zakat.
Kita diberitahu bila kita bayar zakat, harta yg setangkai akan jadi beratus ratus tangkai.
Itu gambaran dari segi monetury benefit.
Faedah bayar zakat ni lebih dari monetory benefit?
Zakat boleh selamatkan society. Bela org susah.
Org susah yg terbela takkan jadi org yg putus harapan. Org yg putus harapan dia dah x kesah apa yg dia lakukan. Hilang pertimbangan. x org ingat pd dia.
Nak rompak lepas tu bunuh org dan lain desperate acts.
Bila masyarakat kita yg susah terbela, kita rasa selamat. Selamat nak pergi kemana mana, siang atau malam.
Tepati janji.
Kita selalu baca atau dengar cerita ttg Along bertindak keras terhadap peminjam yg tidak tepati janji.
Nabi saw sabda yg antara sifat org munafik ialah org yg mungkir bila berjanji.
Apa hukuman terhadap org munafik?
Adalah sifat org Islam apabila berhutang, hendaklah menjelaskanya pd masanya yg kita janji.
Apabila janji masa pilihanraya, siapa yg janji kena tunaikan.

This is shortsighted at best or lacking of knowledge at worst.
Apa yg Allah swt suruh kita buat, faedah nya sekarang dan esok.
