3 Idiots.

Idiots is a lovable term Indians used on rascals they love.
About friendship & what it takes.
In the mold of Breaking Away in the 80s.
Be careful it might draw your tears.

Banding revisited.
Went back to Banding last week. Sort of anniversary.
We didn't get to Belum. Only to hang around a group of chalets in Banding.
Ill prepared & poor location so no fish. We spend time by makan, mandi in the lake & watch the sun set.

Durian dah gugur weh!

And this year, despite of army of hungry monkeys, our trees did bear fruits! There are 4 of them!
And the fruit are so marvellous......
And for those who didn't make it, I upload gambar buah durian kita.... he..he
My Lipat Kajang+the playground of my time..
A swamp where swamp monster lurks? Swimming in the murky water & grabbed your feet when you get into the water.
I see a place where most of my happiest childhood memories belongs to.
This is where we play mudballs when there was plenty of mud around.
Learn to swim, beside Sg Pahang.
Having hell of a time, catching fishes during dry season.
Our dad is working far away in Temerloh. He went off early in the morning & came back late in the afternoon. So we have plenty of time to ourselves.

High tech in Siamese boat.

Especially fishery & agro.
These 3 light bulbs when light up in proper sequence, you have the squid motionless for you to haul in. They would just swim in the red light forever.
This is another creation that I love.
Live bait well.
Normally what Malaysian boat did, was to run the water from the pump, to keep the baitfish alive.
The Thais just punch some holes & they have maintenance free live bait well.

Sir Gallahad

Somebody managed to convince me that Cobia in waters off Songkla are for the taking. He even scolded me for questioning him to bring 3 coleman for the trip.
"Why 3 coleman?" I asked.
"Separoh cobia dah penoh 1 coleman" was the answer.
How can we weren't impressed.
Where to put 3 coleman?
Well, we should give everybody the benefit of the doubt, don't we.
No choice but to call Sir Gallahad for active duty.
Since we acquire him couple of years ago, we didn't get the full picture on his health. He did overheat a couple of time & tore a large hole in my pocket but the idea of pushing for the limit seemed attractive.
We are travelling with a bunch of hardcore nuts whom very seldom put down by the worst of situation.
So I take the chance & load Sir Gallahad. Fresh engine Oil & tankful of water, that's all.
The ride is comfy enough though you can't do more than 100km/h.
We get to Alor Setar in record time.... 9 hours!
Somehow Sir Gallahad impressed me. No problem really. I thought he would do some antics & leave us stranded by the roadside somewhere. But no.
Really nice chap, Sir Gallahad.

Penn 320 GTI
A reliable & strong workhorse in the fishing scene. 320GTI can overcame anything hurled in his way. Coupled with 50lbs braided it can bring to boat anything that took ur bait.
This model is made in the US but newer model you find in tackle shop are made in the Great Wall County.
I have slightly older model that still working very well considering the minimum maintenance I accorded to it. What I did is to lightly wash off the sea water & spray lightly with WD40 at external the moving parts.
Since Penn reels are now made outside US, those made in the US are now classic Penn.

Bersangka baik kpd Allah.
Apabila Allah cepat makbulkan doa mu, maka Dia menyangaimu,
Bila Dia lambat, maka Dia ingin menduga mu,
Bila Dia tak makbulkan doa mu, sesungguhnya itu utk kebaikan mu.
Dia menangguhkan utk sesuatu yg lebih baik buat mu.
Kadangkala kita tak tahu apa yg kita nak.
Apa yg kita hajatkan yg di sangka bawa kebaikan tapi sebaliknya
Bacalah kisah Nabi Musa dan Nabi Khidir, sebagai pedoman.
Oleh itu bersangka baiklah kpd Tuhanmu
Setiap suatu yg dikurniakan kpd mu adalah yg terbaik buat mu
Mungkin keadaan diri kita sekarang buat kita ketawa sinis
Dgn kurnia yg terbaik!
Minta lah kpd Allah dalam solatmu
Dalam sujudmu bisiklah kpdnya isi hatimu.
Ya Allah, yakinkanlah kami bahawa Islam itu membawa rahmat & bukan laknat
Membawa bahagia & bukan derita,
Semua org kaya bayar zakat, sebab zakat buat dia tambah kaya,
Bila dia kaya, dia belanja duitnya,
Maka multiplier effect dalam ekonomi menjadi nyata
Semua org bole berusaha utk rezeki yg halal.
Baitulmal akan penuh dgn duit.
Tapi dlm masyarakat Islam yg benar, umatnya tak heran dgn duit yg banyak
Reward yg sebenar bukanlah nikmat kehidupan yg sementara ini
Targetnya ialah kehidupan yg kekal di Akhirat.
Tak ada org nak seleweng duit Baitulmal atau mana organisasi yg pegang amanah org lain,
Kalu dia Islam yg benar
Sebab itu Islam pilih pemimpin bukan guna demokrasi
Demokrasi is the law of large number
If the large number is full of org yg ingkar
Negara Islam akan rosak.
Dalam negara Islam, org bukan Islam tak punya kuasa mengundi
Hanya org yg beriman yg bole jadi pemimpin.
Purity of soul. Bukan mountain of gold.
Hamba Allah yg ikhlas mencari the pleasure of Allah.
Allah please dgn negara Islam yg pemimpinnya jaga kedaulatan Islam,
Allah please dgn umat yg berjalan setapak kpdNya,
Lalu Dia berlari sepuloh tapak kpd hambanya
Kalu semua yg masuk Islam jadi kaya dgn harta, semua nak masuk Islam.
Tapi bukan nak jadi baik tapi nak kaya.
Itu adalah ujian Allah bagi uji mahluknya

My Mak Sedara & Your Nek Sedara.

People who welcomed me to their homes
bcos I was their anak sedara.
People who make time to come & helped out whenever there's something that need help.
Maybe they looked foreign to you bcos we seldom bring you round to see them.
Whenever we balik kampung, we seldom pay them visits instead we holed up.
Like I said it's none of your fault, it's entirely ours, your elders.
My apology.
These are your flesh & blood.
You should know them personally.
They are not unimportant
They are who we are
See,
there are three generations sitting together on the steps.
Mak Sedara during Zairin kenduri.

Going to Rompin.

That's what I think of Lanjut, somewhere in Rompin.
But not too disappointing, though.
Never been to this side of the country all my life, though we did stay briefly in Pekan when I was too small to remember anything.
Heard a lot of fascinating stories like Siakap of Mercong, Udang Galah of Sg Rompin & Tenggiri & sailfish of Nenasi.
Nek Yang Masari

While rummaging through some old stuff found this rare photo of Nek Yang when she was a young mother holding Pak Long.
Maybe the photo was taken in late 50 or early 60.
Should ask him if he remember anything?
Ha ha

The Hand Of Iblis.

This is not my book & I am not promoting a book.
But this book somehow answer some of questions that have been bugging me & I want to share with all of you who care to read.
We have assigned what misfortune struck us to the notorious Iblis.
Who is Iblis really?
Iblis doesn't have form.
We see what we want to see.
Iblis is the evil in each one of us.
But how does it works?
It whispers & appeals to our baser instinct.
Lust, greed, anger, pride, ego, fear & all those that make we regret if we did.
He didn't put the gun in our hand.
He whisper the idea where the gun might be & what we can do with the gun.
This book will tell you how the notorious Jew, von Rothchilds dominate the world by printing money & hold the world at ransom.
How & why it financed the Civil War in the America
Why Abraham Lincoln was assasinated
Why it financed Great Britain in the WW1
How it blown the World Trade Center, the 9/11.
How it slaughtered 6 million Jews in the Holocoust.
That the harmless Rotarian is the front of malicious & deadly dangerous Freemason.
You got to know your enemy before you can fight them.
Sebiji benih yg membuahkan tujuh tangkai
This guy has stumbled upon what we've missed.
What everybody wants.
The secret to riches.
Allah has promised in the Quran & I have taken it lightly.
And this Chinese guy is serious.
You have to figure it yourselves.

What do we want?

Islam has generally failed to evolve & mobilise the ummah from poverty, illiteracy and oppression.
Ummah has been unable to move forward & progress while keeping Islam close to their heart.
Islam has now been reduced to be a symbol which conveniently put aside when more serious matters dictate, like earning a living, getting rich, running a country & what not.
It's no longer a way of life.
It gets chucked away when it gets in our way i.e it makes us feel guilty.
We justify our action by rationalising that our deed is neccessary.
Islam has been sacrificed on the alter of convenience.
How did we become like this?
It's a long story.
The decline of Islam gets in motion when people like Muawiyah Bin Abu Suffian, a governor in Syam(nowday Iraq) during Saidina Ali caliphate, who think by dressing well will impress foreign dignitaries & raise the status of Islam. Was he wrong?
(Amirrul think Muawiyah is more progressive compared to Ali. He was thinking of material progress? I guess so. Unlike spiritual progress? His rationale? Islam spread far & wide during Muawiyah, he said. The Caliphate was turned into monarchy during Muawiyah so that his ancestors can take over)
It gets in motion when we turn the other cheek or we take when people are not watching?
How come Islam was so successful during Rasullalah days?
Billal was beaten blue & black & he kept uttering "Allah the great" until Uthman bought & free him.
Billal believed.
He believed in Allah swt, Quran & Rasullalah saw.
He wasn't a rich man. He was a slave.
Yet all are vivid in his heart & mind.
Uthman was a rich man & he'd given away most of his riches to finance Islam cause.
These sahabats have given their all & Islam flourish.
Do they become rich when Islam flourish?
Nope.
It's not their intention to get rich.
So what do they want?
Coming back to us, the big question is "what do we want?"
Most answer "successful".
What do they mean by "successful?"
Big pay check, big houses, big cars that attract bevy of girls, for the start. And later the game evolved.
Big & bigger than the other.
More power & more money.
Power to bent rules & money to buy idolation & affection.
Despite what people say about power, like;
Power corrupts, absolute power corrupt absolutely
Power never cease to amaze.
What price we are willing to pay to get what we want?
Hard work. Creative. Innovative.
Some won't do it upfront but gave their all at the back.
Some will sell their mother.
Coming back to Islam & matter of success
Can these two exist together or they are mutually exclusive?
Adakah Islam menyusahkan? Is by becoming true Muslim you will not be able to enjoy things that you enjoy in the past?
Adakah Islam membuat ummah mundur & miskin?
As a responsible Muslim, we've got to confront these issues.
Come clean with our conscience.
We can't afford to follow the herd anymore.
We've got to stand up & be counted.
What we are today is pathetic. We are ritualistic & superficial.
We dressed like one, we go to masjid like one or we fast like one but when come to more serious matter, like money, power, justice, we let the "whisper" rules.
So many things about Islam, we take for granted.
What we do & say in public is not the same when we are in private.
Who are we really?
Hypocrite?

Nenasi Part 2 The Brute

Morally we all did.
I was lightly asleep when I heard commotion onboard. The tekong was telling my fishing buddies to cut all the lines which had entangled with my line.
The fish had taken the bait for sometime and being the ever smart Cobia he was, he made a few round under the boat. This way he managed to gather all the 'tajur' lines into a tight crazy mass of tangled fishing lines which you can neither retrieve or release.
Slowly he pulled the fish into striking distance before planting the gancu into the belly of the brute.
Earlier we had run out of livebaits when dracula sotong keep on stealing livebaits.
Had to resort to dead tamban instead.
When it was too much to take I just put the rod in the rod holder & have shuteye. The rest is history.
Nenasi Part 1
Somebody called & I said yes, that's how we got here.
I'd never seen a more passionate & dedicated tekong than this guy. You'd to book hin for a 2 days package to find out.
We didn't set any big picture for this trip. Just go for a break.

Udang galah dari Sg Langat
This is not a macro shot of udang puteh found in brackish or coastal water off Pulau Ketam. Look at the bluish arm! This is the real udang galah.
Yes, we do came across a few in the Seberang Perak rest area. But I am talking about the live ones.
Never could imagine Sg Langat could offer this exotic species. Right here in the famously polluted river in Selangor and not some exotic destinations like far away Rompin or some imaginary river in Sabah.
Last weekend, try to break the maddeningly boring routine, check with Mazlan, long time ally, if he knows anywhere to go fishing. And the rest is history of my first udang galah.
The investment? Made in China combo rod & reel at rm19 each. Just like what you see here.

At the funnnnfair.

Awesome isn't it?
Searchlights probing the dark night.
Swirling & searching.
Pulsating red & yellow lights.
People screaming
In delight and fear?
I'm not sure
But that's fun.
Leave the miserable year behind
Buy the ticket
Enjoy yourself
Welcome 2011

Welcome 2011.
Just a welcome not an embrace, mind you.
2011 gives new hope that things will gets better.
2011 provide a closure to 2010.
A closure to pains & heartache.
What does 2010 teaches me?
Never put all your eggs in one basket is one of them.
As a businessman, it means diversify.
If basket A didn't make it
You still have basket B to hang on to.
Put enough basket around you, you're comfortably floating in any weather!
Travel far & wide
So you can look & learn
Be humble & you'll learn better.
What did we do on New Year eve? We went to a funfair. Cheap fun? Fun carry no price tags. I want to find out whether I am still fit to have fun riding one of these stuff.
